Book Week 2026 - Saturday 22nd August - Friday 28th August A symphony of stories
Book Week 2026 is here, and we’re getting ready to celebrate everything we love about books, stories and the wonderful worlds they open up for us. Book Week is a special time for young readers to let their imaginations run wild. It’s a chance to discover new favourite characters, revisit much-loved stories and, of course, get creative.
There are so many wonderful events happening around Yass, we can't wait to see all your costumes in the parade on Friday. You can meet the offical Book Week characters here, Such beautiful and imaginative characters by illustrator Briony Stewart. As well as view the book week winners here (we are working hard on getting more copies in the shop).
Introducing our Book Week 2026 Colouring-In Competition!
To celebrate Book Week, we’re inviting our wonderful young customers to get involved in our Blue Door Books Book Week Colouring-In Competition!
Simply pick up a colouring-in entry from Blue Door Books (135 Comur Street, Yass), or download with the link below and print at home. Grab your favourite pencils, crayons or textas, and bring the page to life. Whether you choose bright and bold colours, something wonderfully whimsical or a completely imaginative design of your own, we want to see what you create!

Pick up a colouring-in page from Blue Door Books or download the below.
Get creative! Colour it in however you like.
Return your completed entry to the shop (135 Comur Street, Yass) by Friday 28th August.
Keep your fingers crossed — the winner will receive a book of their choice.
Winner announced on Saturday 29th August.

Book Week is about so much more than dressing up. It’s about encouraging children to explore stories, discover new authors and illustrators, and experience the magic that happens when a book sparks their imagination. So this Book Week, we’re encouraging families to make some time for reading, creativity and plenty of storytelling — and we’d love for you to join us at Blue Door Books.
